Considering Parenting?

Even if parenting wasn’t part of your plans at this point in your life, it doesn’t mean you are not capable of raising your child successfully.

Do I Have What It Takes to Be A Parent?

No one is ever truly ready to become a parent. However, there are a few questions you can ask yourself before deciding if parenting is best for you.

  • How will I financially support my child?
  • Does the father want to co-parent?
  • Are there resources available in my community to help me? Are my parents willing to help me?
  • Am I in a safe and stable situation to raise a child?
  • Do I have a support system?
  • Will I be able to finish school or continue pursuing my career?

Your answers to the above questions help you determine the assistance you need. If you want help answering these questions, our staff at My Life Clinic can meet with you to offer guidance, encouragement, and information about parenting.

Pregnant or Parenting in School

As a pregnant student, you have certain rights determined by the federal government. The U.S. Department of Education prohibits discrimination – including pregnancy and parental status.

Your school can’t deny you access to classes, student testing, or extra-curricular activities. Your school must excuse absences due to your pregnancy or childbirth.
