The first thing we’ll do is confirm your pregnancy. A late period and a positive pregnancy test may not be enough to confirm your pregnancy. Did you know experts estimate that 26% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage? You can miscarry and not have symptoms, and getting a positive pregnancy test result days or even weeks afterward is possible.
An ultrasound is the only way to confirm your pregnancy. We offer free, limited obstetrical ultrasounds. An ultrasound can also tell you how far along you are and if your pregnancy is located correctly. This step is essential before you make a decision.
Is There an Option That Won’t Cost Me Anything?
You can choose to make an adoption plan for your child. Whatever adoption coordinator you select provides the expectant mother or birth mother free adoption services.
Adoption has changed dramatically over the last few decades. Now, the expectant mother can choose the potential adoptive couple and guide the future she wants for her child. Many couples from all walks of life are waiting to adopt. Birth mothers are also able to select the best adoption plan for them, choosing between open adoption, semi-open adoption, or closed adoption.
In Missouri, you receive free medical care, complete adoption counseling and planning, and legal representation. Depending on your situation, it is also possible to have some pregnancy-related expenses covered. For instance, receiving payment for your rent, food, clothing, etc., may be possible.
At My Life Clinic, we partner with an adoption agency based in Columbia, Missouri. If you’re considering adoption, we can connect you with an advocate from this agency to meet with you at our clinic, often on the same day as your appointment with us.
Did You Know Services Are Also Available to Help You Parent?
Many organizations exist to help single mothers parent their children. One program, Alternatives to Abortion, helps qualified Missouri mothers prepare for the arrival of their newborns. Other programs throughout the state provide medical care, housing assistance, food, and clothing. My Life Clinic also provides referrals to various programs and organizations that can help you.
In addition, we offer free prenatal and parenting classes. When you complete a short course, you receive “Baby Bucks,” which you can redeem for baby and mother care items in our baby boutique. We also have a Mothers Support Group that meets weekly.
